First Responder For Secure Environments

THE ONLY COURSE OF ITS KIND IN THE UK
This course was designed in conjunction with people working in secure environments such as prisons, mental health units, detention centres, and secure children’s units. The course was developed to equip officers and carers with the skills needed to respond to medical emergencies and cardiac arrests with the unique challenges that these environments pose in mind. Recent high profile deaths in custody and the subsequent government recommendations state that where physical restraint is used staff should be able to use a defibrillator and administer CPR as a minimum. In response to this challenge we have developed a course designed to meet this need. The course curriculum is fully evidence based and further details are available on request. This course has been delivered over a range of services and has been VERY well received please contact us for further details. The course is 2 days in length or four evenings.

This course is not designed to teach treatment options or psychological approaches, the course is designed for people who may come into contact with people who may display self-harming behaviour or may be suicidal. It is the aim of the course to increase understanding and break down some of the barriers that may exist between caregivers and clients.
